Announcing: Montana Climate Stories
Climate change is human caused and getting worse. But, we have most of the solutions we need to address this problem. When we openly speak about the causes, concerns, and mitigation of these impacts, we can move toward a thriving future for Montana. Our hope is that by sharing stories, more Montanans can find common ground and come together to protect our climate, our communities, and ensure a livable future for all of our families and this beautiful state we call home.
Send a personal message to COP 26 leaders
With our international partners at Our Kids’ Climate and Parents for Future Global, we're collecting short video messages from Montana parents and caregivers, intended for the COP 26 delegates and leadership, about the urgency of taking bold climate action now. Submit your message today! It’s simple.
VIDEO: Climate Change and Your Child's Health
On October 12, we welcomed Drs. Lori and Robert Byron from Montana Health Professionals for Healthy Climate to speak to parents and caregivers about the potential impacts of climate change on our children in Montana, and learn tools and actions that could help keep our kids safer in a rapidly changing world. Watch the recording!
Indigenous Peoples' Day
Today we are honoring and celebrating Indigenous Peoples’ Day through action.
Families featured in Montana Naturalist
We are so honored to be featured in the Fall/Winter issue of Montana Naturalist magazine published by the Montana Natural History Center! We have deep appreciation for their work. Many thanks to Allison De Jong for telling our story so well. Download the PDF.
A week in community for climate action
We masked up and went out in community over the last week to connect with other organizers, and the public. Check out our brief coverage and photos from the Climate Protector Ride, Climate and Clean Energy Expo and the Global Climate Strike with Fridays for Future - Missoula.
Submissions are open for the Fall "Changing Times"
It's that time! We're seeking submissions from our readers, followers, and community members for our fall issue!
Stopping methane pollution is vital to climate progress
On the drive north around Flathead Lake, you can see the destruction of the Boulder 2700 fire: 31 “structures,” including 14 homes, some right on the lake, lie in cinders.
But you step on the gas as soon as you get to the other side of the charred 2,230 acres. You have places to go, people to see, business to take care of.
We Montanans turn our heads from scientific reports, too. Take the sixth assessment by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, released last month, which says 1.) these high-intensity fires are a sign that climate change is here and 2.) it’s going to get a lot worse.
Don't fall for gas!
As you may know, NorthWestern Energy is planning to build a gas plant in Laurel, MT. On Thursday, September 16th, from 6:30-8:00 pm (via Zoom), MEIC and Montana Health Professionals for a Healthy Climate will lead a discussion on the dangers of continuing to rely on gas to heat our homes, fuel our appliances, or generate electricity. If you are interested in learning more about NorthWestern’s gas plant proposal and its many flaws, join their second event on Thursday, October 21st, from 5:30-6:30 pm (via Zoom).
