Nothing like a little positive reinforcement to clean up the air! Families for a Livable Climate Healthy Schools for Montana Kids group recently planned a No Idling Day at Russell Elementary in Missoula.
Montanans are Ready for Climate Action
The 2025 Climate Advocacy Day - cohosted by over 20 organizations and led by Families for a Livable Climate - saw over 350 Montanans gather at the State Capitol, ready to speak up for their futures and the futures of their families, traditions, and places they hold dear.

Victory! Montana Supreme Court affirms decision in Held, historic youth climate case (Daily Montanan)
In an historic decision, the Montana Supreme Court upheld the District Court’s ruling siding with the youth plaintiffs in Held v. Montana, the nation’s first youth-led climate lawsuit to go to trial.

Climate Advocacy Day is an opportunity to tell the story of what is possible—that there are real alternatives, that we can put social and ecological well being over the accumulation of wealth and power, and that all people have dignity and worth. Response to devastating hurricanes - October 2024
October 2024 - We at Families for a Livable Climate are deeply saddened by the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton. The loss of life, destruction of homes, and displacement of communities are heartbreaking. Our thoughts are with those affected by this natural disaster.

Dear NWE and PSC: The power to keep MT families safe is in your hands
Last month's hurricane-level windstorm in Missoula rattled our community. Unfortunately, extreme weather events like this are projected to become more frequent and intense in the coming years due to climate change. Let this be a wakeup call to NorthWestern Energy leadership and their regulator, the Public Service Commission: The time to invest in clean energy is NOW. Our safety is at stake.
Enough Is Enough, NWE
On the heels of last month's storm and record-breaking heat, Northwestern Energy announced it will soon triple its use of coal in Montana (by acquiring more shares of Colstrip).
