A Year of Growth & Transition
Since our founding, we have reached thousands of Montanans through community-oriented climate events, educational opportunities, advocacy, and leadership. This year we made more powerful moves to build momentum for change and a thriving future for all. Here are some of the highlights.
Dear NWE and PSC: The power to keep MT families safe is in your hands
Last month's hurricane-level windstorm in Missoula rattled our community. Unfortunately, extreme weather events like this are projected to become more frequent and intense in the coming years due to climate change. Let this be a wakeup call to NorthWestern Energy leadership and their regulator, the Public Service Commission: The time to invest in clean energy is NOW. Our safety is at stake.
Enough Is Enough, NWE
On the heels of last month's storm and record-breaking heat, Northwestern Energy announced it will soon triple its use of coal in Montana (by acquiring more shares of Colstrip).
Dear Mediocre Mother,
“I’ve actually been thinking about some things that are challenging for me as a mom to write in about. One is talking to kids about things we’re also scared about (for me - climate change, political environment) and how to be honest with them while also not scaring them more. Sorry, that’s a heavy one!”
Resources for Banking on Your Values
The world's largest banks are currently funding new fossil fuel development and resource exploitation at an alarming rate. While there is much that we can't control, we do have a say in which banks we use.

Be Fantastic, help Missoula ditch plastic!
MT Plastic Free Missoula is collecting signatures to get an ordinance on the November ballot regulating single-use plastics in the City of Missoula.
Green Drinks - June 2024
We were thrilled to co-host the June event this week with Families for a Livable Climate Board member Kareen Erbe at her amazing property and permaculture site, Broken Ground. We welcomed around 70 people for a two hour social and networking event, connecting with so many cool community members!
Activism is a relay race, not a sprint. Join the team.
Just like FLC has Working Groups, Common Good Missoula has Core Teams. Members of FLC who would like to join in forming a Core Team to represent FLC would be agreeing to respond to a tiered variety of opportunities. You could participate in creating and/or researching, building, or promoting the projects that CGM is working on. Learn more!
