Families members join MEIC and others to deliver letter to NorthWestern Energy

Montanans from every corner of the state penned an open letter to NorthWestern Energy CEO Bob Rowe urging the company to move forward immediately towards a clean energy future. The letter, delivered to NorthWestern Energy’s Missoula office on Dec. 16, 2021, also urges the company to pay the penalties owed to low income and tribal assistance programs and to take action to protect all Montanans and future generations from the environmental and economic hardship that accompanies further investment in a fossil fuel future.

Gratitude: Families stepped into climate action during one tough year

What a year for Montana families: Navigating Covid safety and precautions while trying to work and support their kids’ learning; struggling to keep kids safely engaged despite summer heat, wildfire, and smoke; running businesses with staffing challenges, and unpredictable daycare and school situations; and some losing family and friends tragically to this new disease that has dominated all of our lives for nearly two years.

Yet, families of all kinds took time and turned out for climate events, took action, or checked in with us to see how they could help. It was truly amazing.

Montana parents and caregivers and kids to COP26 and state leaders: Stop fossil fuel development now

Last week, our partners at Parents for Future Global and Our Kids’ Climate, along with several Climate Parent Fellows, delivered a plea to COP 26 President Alok Sharma and world leaders assembled for COP26 from parent and caregiver led organizations around the world, asking them to end financing of new fossil fuel projects now. Here in Montana, Families for a Livable Climate hosted a solidarity rally at the Missoula County Courthouse on Saturday, November 6, with parents and caregivers and kids speaking up to share their personal messages for world and state leaders, asking that they urgently work to address the climate crisis.
