State of Montana youth-led climate lawsuit joined this live virtual conversation to answer questions and share their experiences with peers and supporters across the state. It was a great opportunity to hear directly from plaintiffs about what it's been like to participate in the FIRST youth-led and the FIRST constitutional climate lawsuit to go to trial in the nation! We were blown away by our May 1 “Federal Money for Montana Schools: Solar and EV Buses” webinar! It was an incredible conversation with some amazing guests.

Some highlights: We heard from government experts about funding opportunities. We heard stories from Sam Spector of Sweet Grass High School in Big Timber, MT, about the massive savings they’ve experienced from their solar array and other projects. We heard from Transportation Directory Bethany Aurin from West Grand School District in Colorado who gave their EV buses a glowing review for performance in snow, ice, and more!

Climate momentum is building in Montana

On January 20, a coalition of 17 organizations across Montana convened in Helena, centering climate stories and action at the Capitol’s very first Climate Advocacy Day. The rally drew over 300 attendees from throughout the state, including Billings, Livingston, the Flathead, Butte, Bozeman, and Missoula. Singing songs and welcoming speakers from around the state, we gathered to have a public conversation about climate change in one of our most important public spaces–our state government.

Speaking up for a brighter future: Next steps.

Over this past summer, we canvassed for signatures on our NorthWestern Energy letter in Helena, Butte, and Missoula, and had incredible conversations with moms, dads, grandparents, energy workers, small business owners, and more. As a result, on September 23, we delivered a letter to NorthWestern Energy’s Board of Directors and leadership bearing over 1,000 signatures, asking the company to move to clean, affordable, and renewable energy. Help build momentum for this campaign by getting involved in upcoming advocacy opportunities, and get inspired by watching the remarks from our speakers at the letter delivery rally.
