ABOUT FAMILIES FOR A LIVABLE CLIMATE

Families for a Livable Climate (FLC) creates community for climate action in Montana by equipping families of all kinds with the tools, relationships, and support they need to engage in meaningful, community-powered climate solutions. Through climate communication, leadership development, and movement-building, we support people in moving from concern to action while fostering belonging, resilience, and collective impact. We envision an equitable and vibrant Montana, where families of all kinds advocate for resilient and connected communities, working together across differences to address the climate crisis, and create durable solutions.

WHY FAMILIES?

We believe that lasting climate action begins with relationships. By creating welcoming, multigenerational spaces where people can connect across differences, share their stories, and build skills together, we help Montanans discover their collective power and take action in their communities.

We define “families” in the broadest sense: Any group of people joined together in relationship. Relationships are at the heart of families and communities, and they are the foundation of our work as climate advocates, organizers, and community-builders. We believe that when people feel connected, supported, and part of something bigger than themselves, they are far more likely to take meaningful and sustained action.

At Families for a Livable Climate, we don’t just organize for families, we strive to be one: a welcoming, joyful, and multigenerational community rooted in care, belonging, and collective action.
