Panel Discussion About Missoula Solutions for Decreasing Single-Use Materials

On 4/23/25 at the University of Montana UC Theater, the UM Climate Response Club, MT Plastic Free Missoula, and Families for a Livable Climate Plastics Working Group. hosted a mini sustainability fair, the screening of the documentary of "Single-Use Planet" and a panel discussion about current local solutions in the Missoula community. The event is a part of on-going local efforts to engage and educate the Missoula community about the reasons to reduce unnecessary single-use plastic in our lives and will highlight ways to do it. 

The panel, moderated by local and national Zero Waste advocate and consultant Jeremy Drake (MT Plastic Free Missoula, Strategy Zero Waste Solutions, Zero Waste USA, National Recycling Coalition) will included Alena Flocchini (UM Climate Response Club, MontPIRG, Skip the Stuff Missoula), Sarah E. Johnson, BSN, BA, RN-BC (Providence St. Patrick Hospital, Environmental Stewardship), Emi Kodama (Good Food Store, General Manager), and Derek Kanwischer (UM Sustainability). 

The sponsors included Missoula Compost, Providence St. Patrick Hospital, and the Good Food Store. The mini fair organizations and businesses include: Climate Smart Missoula, Families for a Livable Climate, Good Food Store, Home ReSource, Missoula Compost, MontPIRG, Missoula Urban Demonstration project aka MUD, UM Climate Response Club, UM Sustainability, and Grow Safe Missoula.
