LET'S SUPPORT MT SCHOOLS: A collaborative effort to win climate pollution reduction funds for one of our most important community resources

Funded by a national Mosaic Movement Infrastructure grant and with the support of many volunteers and partners, Families for a Livable Climate has organized an Electrify Montana coalition focused on building momentum for electrification in Montana, with approximately 30 organizations and 12 communities represented so far.

One of the first projects undertaken through the coalition was to facilitate engagement of coalition members in the Montana Priority Climate Action Plan. A coalition subcommittee is recommending that DEQ pursue a $50 million EPA implementation grant to support the clean energy transition in Montana's K-12 schools.

Members of the coalition, including Winona Bateman, Executive Director of Families for a Livable Climate, and Steve Thompson, former Executive Director of NCAT and an Electrify Montana volunteer, Bruce Peterson, the treasurer of Dawson Resource Council, one of the founders and leaders of Glendive Recycles Our Waste (GROW), a recycling non-profit which just opened its own facility in Glendive, and others, will provide an overview of this new schools initiative, why it's critical, and how you can get involved.
