Host Let’s Talk Climate for your community or network.
Do you have a group of friends or family who would like to talk about the climate crisis, and perhaps get involved with making change, but are too overwhelmed by the topic, or lack broader community support?
Host a climate conversation!
The Let’s Talk Climate presentation+workshop can be a public event for your community, or run as a private event. (Currently, we gather on Zoom.)
This free event will engage participants in the basic science and impacts of the climate crisis on Montana, and help build participants’ confidence in sharing their climate concerns with family and friends. The goal is to build community, and inspire personal and public action.
All are welcome. The workshop is specifically aimed at participants who are concerned about the issue and want to know more, but who are not necessarily engaged in the climate movement.
According to the Yale Climate Opinion Maps (data visualizations) hosted by the Yale Program on Climate Change Communication project, 72% of Americans (and Montanans) understand that global warming is happening, and that it will impact our Americans (61%). But though we are overwhelmingly aware, we’re not discussing the problem and achieving the urgency we need to solve it.
Three-quarters of Americans hear about climate change from someone they know only twice every year. Scientist Katharine Hayhoe summed up the impact of this silence very clearly: “If we don’t talk about it, we won’t care about it, and we won’t take action.”
To host a community climate conversation, simply fill out the simple form below, and we will contact you to schedule the event. We will need your help with finding a location, as well as promoting the event, if it’s public, or gathering RSVPs if it’s a private event.
