Support our youth: Take the Montana Climate Action Pledge.
Inspired by the tenacity of the Held v. Montana youth and other young people who are standing up for their futures? One of the best ways that parents, family members, and caregivers can support our kids is to take action on climate ourselves.
Show your support: Take our climate action pledge, put it on your fridge, and stick to it!
Pledge actions & resources:
I will talk about climate change regularly with friends and family. Mention climate change, and focus on climate solutions that inspire. As of 2023, 68% of Montanans support regulating carbon pollution, but 64% of us rarely or never talk about climate change. We must talk about carbon pollution and climate change in order to pass bold climate policies. Resources from expert climate communicator Katharine Hayhoe HERE.
I will write two Letters-to-the-Editor (LTE) before the end of the year, speaking up about climate and the need for urgent action. (LTES are usually 200 words.) View MEIC’s guide to LTEs HERE.
I will share my personal story of concern about climate in my conversations, LTE, or with the Montana Climate Stories project.
I will contact lawmakers to support climate policy, and oppose policy that hurts our shared climate. Whether it’s local, state, or federal policy, when you see a policy or other decision that needs your voice, speak up! Refer to MEIC’s advocacy guide & Forward Montana’s Montana Legislature Guide for guidance.
I will find a climate action community that inspires and supports me. This may be found by volunteering with a group, or a group of friends. Connecting in community = resiliency.
I will volunteer with a Montana climate organization.
I will donate to a Montana climate organization. Whether you can contribute $5 or $500, your support will make a difference. Find a group HERE.
