Saying Yes to Natural Grass

Ogren Park will Remain Natural Grass!

Last week, Big Sky Professional Baseball dropped its request for artificial turf at Ogren Park.

Read the Missoula Current article and our letter to the editor published in the Current and the Missoulian.

Let's take a moment to celebrate what we have accomplished together:

  • We protected the Clark Fork River from a large source of microplastic pollution

  • We protected athletes from the dangers of artificial turf, including extreme heat, toxic chemicals, and severe "turf burn" injuries

  • We prevented a large heat island

  • We raised awareness about the connections between plastics, toxins, climate change, environmental and human health, and safe places to play

WE did that. And we did it by coming together out of care and concern for our community and communities of life everywhere.

A Call for Thank You Notes

Missoula needs an artificial turf ordinance

Now that Council Members have a more thorough understanding of the health and environmental impacts of artificial turf, we need City Council to adopt a policy to protect our community from it.

MT Plastic Free, Families for a Livable Climate, Climate Smart Missoula, Grow Safe Non-Toxic Missoula, Home ReSource, 350 Montana, and others will be working together to advocate for a strong artificial turf policy that expands what we have already accomplished beyond Ogren Park.

Please email mtplasticfreemissoula@gmail.com if you would like to join us in this next step.
