WHERE: UM University Center Theater (3rd Floor), 32 Campus Drive, Missoula, MT
WHO: The presenting partners are the UM Climate Response Club, MT Plastic Free Missoula and Families for a Livable Climate Plastics Working Group. The sponsors for the event include Missoula Compost, Providence St. Patrick Hospital, MT Plastic Free Missoula and the Good Food Store.
WHY: This film screening and panel discussion will continue efforts to engage and educate the Missoula community about the reasons to reduce unnecessary single-use plastic in our lives and highlight ways to do it. The event will include the new documentary Single-Use Planet. The film explores the political, economic, health and environmental impact of single-use plastics. Following the construction of new manufacturing facilities in Pennsylvania and Louisiana, the film delves into a powerful industry and its impact on local communities. After the documentary, local and national zero waste consultant, Jeremy Drake will moderate a panel discussion with UM Climate Response Club member and MT PIRG Intern, Alena Flocchi (Missoula Skip the Stuff Project), Sarah E. Johnson, R. N. (Providence St. Patrick Hospital Environmental Sustainability, G4G), and Emi Kodama (Good Food Store Sustainability Practices) to talk about current local solutions in our community for reducing unnecessary single-use plastics. The event includes prizes and it is part of Missoula’s Zero Waste Month.
