Billings Climate Week
Billings first ever Climate Week is a week dedicated to community partnerships around climate solutions. Just a week before the Held v State of Montana goes to trial in Helena, this event hopes to generate as much interest and support as possible leading up to the opening of the trial on June 12th, 2023. The events hope to put a strong focus on this existential issue that is climate change and fossil fuel perpetuation in Montana.

11:00: St. Andrews Community Garden tour with lunch at noon and outdoor storytelling with Families for a Livable Climate
6:00pm: Reception and Social Hour – Glacier Room at Montana State University Billings (MSUB)
7:00pm: Public Meeting and Lecture by Steve Running at Petro Hall, MSUB
Dr. Steve Running is a retired University Professor of Ecology at the University of Montana. He has been involved in the development of global and regional ecosystem biochemical models. He has worked with NASA and other teams and working groups for which he has received many honors and appointments. He has written over 270 scientific articles and 2 books. More importantly, he is recognized worldwide as an expert in global ecosystem monitoring. In 2007 he was a lead scientist retained by the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) wrote a report which was so well received the IPCC received the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize for it.

1pm: Pollution & Climate Impacts on Wildlife & You with Youpa Stein. BUUF Hall, 2032 Central Ave and on Zoom
An overview of how every stage of plastics causes health and environmental justice harm to humans and wildlife and the ecosystems that sustain all of us and a look at how we can work together to reduce the toxic overproduction of single use plastics.
